The hotel was dirty. As you walked up the stairs, there roaches crawling around. Next to the reception desk was a room with a employee walking around naked in a office with the door open. The room is not designed as your regular hotel room, it is literally a room with just a bed and two pillows. There is no bathroom, tv, night stand and ect. In this room.i wouldn't suggest anyone stay at this place.

Everything! I walked into my room and left immediately, with no other accomodation to go to it was better than staying in what I would describe as a hell hole. They wanted me to leave my key at the desk everytime I left the building however there were 10+ signs in the lobby saying they are not responsible for lost or stolen property. Did not feel safe here what so ever. Would not recommend even to an enemy!

    Very good

I liked that the room was just enough. Just a place to stay the night, but they had TVs and fans in each room, 4 single bathrooms meant not having to wait in line. Also, there was a basket with toilettries and disposable slippers. Also, wifi had great connection.

Check in process took a little long

Nothing! By the way, where is the Bowery Grand Hotel's business licence number? It should be displayed at the reception desk, but the staff were quite evasive, nor could they produce a business card. The 'rooms' were large enough to hold a single bed and approximately the size of a small bathroom (Japanese business men's sleeping cubicles are probably more spacious). However, because I had booked online I was forced to honour my booking and was not permitted to inspect the room prior to payment.

... My room had a bottom sheet on the bed and a stained nylon bed cover intended to be used as a top sheet. Neither had been laundered and I found 2 long black hairs on the bed as I went to lie down. I asked for a clean sheet, was handed one sheet, and had to ask for a second (silly me for assuming that sheets came in pairs). The 'rooms' were all crowded together, we're airless, noisy and uncomfortable. The bathrooms were clean, and each guest was provided with a small basket containing soap, slippers and toothbrush, but that was the only courtesy. I just wanted a room for a night to attend an event in the district, and was happy to pay the relatively inexpensive price, but in truth there was little value for money, plus tax! And I left feeling uncomfortable that the hotel had my credit card details, front and back, photocopied for their records. I took several photos and am happy to post them to demonstrate what a firetrap this awful place was!

Not far from subway station. Not so expensive as another alternatives.

    Noisy. Dirty.

    Very good

The tax on the room seemed high: room price...$ 55. And tax $11.68 which is aboutt 20 percent. TOTAL. $ 66.68. The room was extremely small, little larger than the bed which was adequate. One needs to carry his luggage up one flight of stairs, maybe should be mentioned.

Worst experience of my life, and I believe it is also a brothel...

Our experience in Grand hotel was worse than poor.... I don't understand how Booked.net with its reliability and reputation can offer a hotel, if i may call it hotel, like Grand hotel. The place was dirty and disgusting, the reception looked as if you were in a parking garage, the room was very old, with broken curtains, with very thin windows that let the night traffic noises in, with weird sounds of animals next door (maybe dogs or rats...who knows)... And sheets? There was only the bottom sheet with no cover sheet, you had to use the old torn cover of the bed...It had a mysterious atmosphere that made us think that place belonged to the chinese mafia of NYC... Actually, the first day there was a man in the door of the hotel that didnt let us in saying that place was only for men!!! (we were two women) And we were not allowed to get in... Of course this was not true in the end, but it was weird though...everything was weird... Definitely it's impossible to find a decent place to stay in New york for the amount of money we paid, it was not cheap! If you are thinking of travelling to ny, wonderful city by the way, do spend money in accommodation if you want something humble and simple but clean and decent!!

    Good

I was actually amazed at the cleanliness of it considering it wouldn't give u that impression from the outside or the 'reception' area.

Windowless room made it very stuffy. One of the showers didn't get hot. Lots of stairs to get up to hotel.

The only good thing about this hotel if you can call it that! is the subway station is only 2min walk so you can get as far away from this place as possible.

Lots of things.. The room was tiny, the bed only just fitted and by the time we got 2 backpacks in there was no room to move.It had no windows. It was so incredibly hot, the a/c was only turned on when i complained, but then it never even got cool. The sheets were covered in hairs and not clean, had to sleep in our sleeping bag liners on top of the bed. The bathrooms are filthy, cockroaches and insects squashed dead on the walls, people smoking in the bathrooms and flicking ash on the floor. one member of staff was very rude and didnt have the time of day for us. The wifi only worked certain times of the day. I know this place is cheap for New York, but we moved just out side of Manhattan to a really nice hotel for the same price and have to travel in, but would rather that than stay in that hole.

    The bathrooms were fairly clean.

Internet was out the entire three nights we were there, each time they claimed they were going to get it fixed. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and the blankets had stains and cigarette burns. Rooms were no bigger than the bed.

the rooms were all windowless, which protected us from street noise, but every noise inside the hotel could be heard in our room. many guests rose very early, and we would hear their tv's/radios as if they were in our room. one person played christmas music from 4am until 10 am. it felt like sleeping in a kafka novel, in a tiny dark coffin, on a hard bed.

Very good location, major subway stations within 2 blocks (meaning express and night trains also stop here), good restaurants/delis.

Very small room (but probably usual in NY). 'Queen bed' was actually single bed with a queen mattress, meant the edges were unsafe.

if you're looking at this you're probably on a low budget. please - go to a nice hostel. I didn't like anything in that filthy claustrofobic place (the rooms are like shelves in a cupboard; scary; bedbugs included etc.), exept for the rather clean bathroom (if compared to the room).

The rooms are as small as the bed. You can hear everything that others are doing (and, omg, the first night there was some kind of scandal which lasted until 3 or 4 am). I thought I was lucky to have avoided the bedbugs, but no - I arrived home and I had two huge bites.
